Earlier this summer Calvin started using the phrase "du bah du bah" in place of whatever word or phrase he didn't have the words to verbalize. For example, once at the pool all his buckets fell in the water and he pointed and shouted, "Oh no!! Du bah du bah!!" When he was learning to sing the ABCs he would use this phrase to replace certain letters that he couldn't remember. "H, I, J, K, du bah du bah, P"

During our games of hide and seek, if I've chosen a good spot and the boys need assistance finding me I'll give a few whistles until they can follow the sound to me. Now when we play (or when he's just looking for me around the house) Calvin walks around "whistling" for me. To whistle he sticks his finger in his mouth, blows out as hard as he can while making a high pitched noise. Here's a pic:

This past Friday I took Tyler shopping for school clothes. Here's a snippet of our conversation in the car on the way there.
Tyler: So I'm going to have to try on clothes at the store?
Me: Yes, you'll need to try on some jeans.
Tyler: So I'm going to have to take off my shorts at the store?
Me: Yes
Tyler: But then everyone in the store will see my privacy!!
I then explained to him about dressing rooms which he called "dress up" rooms the rest of the day. :)

Calvin loves to "go potty". He will walk into a room and announce "I go potty. I be right back." Then he goes into the nearest bathroom, raises the lid and stands in front of the potty. He then lifts up his shirt, pushes his stomach out as far as it will go and squeezes his belly button over the potty. After flushing he washes his hands and comes to tell me all about it. Ha! We have a long way to go for potty training :)

Tyler (in a fit of rage) to Jim: I QUIT YOU DADDY! I'll always love you but I quit you!

In the middle of August we took away Calvin's nu-nu and it really went better than I expected. He never went to bed screaming or crying for it and only asked about it a handful of times. Now his nu-nu seems like a distant memory :)
In other Calvin news, he recently managed to climb out of his crib with the rail fully raised. We've known for a while that he could climb in his bed with the side down and within the past week or so we've discovered he can also get out of his bed with the side down. Last Saturday it was my day to sleep in so Jim went to get Cal up.
Jim: Good morning! Ready to go downstairs?
Cal: No, want Mama!
Jim: Mama's sleeping. Do you want Daddy to get you up?
Cal: Never! (his go-to phrase)
So Jim left him in his crib with the rail raised. A few minutes later Calvin came pitter pattering down the stairs! He has yet to try and climb during naps, even when he's not sleeping and just sitting in there for over an hour so I'm holding out hope that it was a one time fluke. I'm not ready to put him in a big boy bed!

Whenever Tyler is being watched by someone he calls it "keeping on".
"If you and daddy are going to dinner who's going to keep on me and Cal?"
Once to Meg "Thanks for keeping on me Mama Meg."

Our neighbor Joe is a runner and Cal will see him out the window getting back from a run with his earphones still in for his iPod. Now Cal will get out the play stethoscope and run around the house saying, "I exercise like Goey!" Here's the visual:

I love all of these great stories! They were so fun to read. Your boys are too cute. And yes I think we could all use a lesson in whistling from Fletcher, he is truly the best!
