Cal's First Car Wash

This weekend Calvin participated in an important rite of passage for the males in this family: washing the family cars. At first he was actually helpful, dipping his hand in the suds and rubbing it along the car. Then he turned rogue and made it his mission to remove all wet cloths from the bucket and put all dry cloths in the bucket, pausing to try and drink the soap along the way. Hmmm...looks like he still needs a little training. :)

New Patio

This summer we had a new patio put in below our deck to connect the back door to the deck stairs. Eventually we plan to put a fire pit and lounge chairs on it. We are also going to put a sandbox for the boys on the other side of the patio. Needless to say, the bobcat that removed the grass and the concrete mixer truck that poured the patio provided endless entertainment for all the boys on this street!

T Ball

Last week Tyler started T ball with his BFF, William. There are about ten kids on his "team" and two coaches. They mostly practice all the T ball basics but I think there will be some scrimmages too. It's so cute to watch all the kids with their gloves chasing after the ball, although Meg and I joke that most days it looks like the coaches are trying to herd cats :)
Here are some pics!

Twins Game

This past week I went to my first Twins game with Meg, her sister and another neighbor of ours, Ericka. I told you I was going to be a fan! I even wore a Minnesota shirt, my first ever. We had a blast watching the game and exploring the new stadium and watching the Twins win. I can't wait to go again! Thanks Meg for inviting me!

Day at the Beach

The neighborhood next to ours opened a "beach" and sprinkler park and we, along with our neighbors, went to check it out this week. It ended up being more overcast than it was supposed to be but it was still pretty warm. The older boys loved the beach and had a blast running in and out of the water, making mud and digging in the sand. Calvin was content to sit on the blanket and munch throughout the morning. He did experiment with the sand once, decided he didn't like the taste of it, and continued on with his food.

Before we left the boys ran around in the sprinkler park and had a blast. Calvin was quite intrigued with the spraying water and the running kids. He sat on the edge kicking his feet, clapping and laughing and slowly got closer and closer. I think by the end of the summer he'll be running through with the rest of them!

Meg and I can't wait for many more days at the beach this summer with our 5 boys!!

First Haircut!

This morning we took Calvin to get his haircut for the first time. As you can see, he was none too pleased with the experience. He just got a little loped off the top and around the ears. Such a big boy!

One Year Stats

On Tuesday Calvin had his one year check up and here's how he measured up:
weight: 24 lbs 7 oz--73rd percentile
height: 30 inches--57th percentile

During the check up I was telling Dr. Price how Cal isn't walking yet but can stand alone for long periods of time. I stood him up to demonstrate and, sure enough, he stood, clapped then took 3 steps right to me!! His first steps right in front of the doctor! We all cheered him on and he had the biggest smile. Since then he's taken a few steps for us at home. Hopefully he'll be a walking machine soon!

The Party!

Here are the pictures from Calvin's party. Calvin was under the weather all week long (in fact, we've all been sick one way or another recently) so we were very grateful that his party was able to take place. Grammy flew into town and Jim's family came up to help celebrate along with our favorite neighbors, the Axe family. The weather was beautiful and we all had a great time. Thanks to everyone for braving our house to help celebrate this special day!!
