Last Friday Tyler had off school and Jim had off work so we took a family outing to a local apple orchard. We started off on a wagon ride around the orchard. Our tour guide introduced himself as Dick and kept up a steady monologue along the ride of facts about the orchard and apples in general. About halfway through the ride Tyler looked over at Jim and said, "Whew Dick sure is doing a lot of talking!" Ha!!
After the wagon ride we moseyed over to the corn maze and pumpkin patch. Tyler was our maze leader and did a great job navigating us through the labyrinth, even locating all the hidden letters to spell the secret word. Once we'd escaped we tromped through the pumpkin patch for just the right pumpkins to carve up this year.
Then it was back to the shop for a snack of apple donuts and apple cider. Before we left we loaded up on all kinds of apple goodies: caramel apples, apple donuts, apple cider, apple delight and a ton of apples for apple crisp. Delish!

Cal's First Field Trip
Yesterday Calvin's preschool class had their first field trip to a local farm/pumpkin patch. The weather was a little chilly but the wind stayed pretty calm until the end. Meg and I fortified ourselves with some coffee at Caribou before heading there with the boys. It was a busy morning! There was a hayride, a meet and greet with the animals, snack time then a trip to the pumpkin patch to pick out their own pumpkin. Calvin had a great time! Here are some pics from the morning.
Twins Game
At the end of September Meg invited me to a Twins game along with her sister Elizabeth and her friend Christine. Meg and I started the night off with dinner and drinks downtown. We met Elizabeth and Christine at the stadium by the 3rd inning and settled in to watch the Twins win. Yay! We must be good luck :) Thanks for a fun night Meg!

A Quick Visit
My sister was in town last week for work and got to spend most of the day with us on Wednesday. She hadn't seen the boys since two Christmases ago and hadn't been to Minnesota since Calvin was 6 months old! Calvin and Aunt Jessie became fast friends. When Tyler got home they both showed off for her and were proud to show her all around their rooms. Later in the evening I took Jess to her hotel and we grabbed dinner together and got to catch up some more. This is the 4th time I've seen my sister this year (a record for us since we've both moved away from Texas) and I love it!
