Days with Daddy

A few weeks ago Jim and I switched places for 3 days; I went to work for my old company, Thymes, at their annual warehouse sale and Jim stayed home with the kiddos. I had a blast catching up with old friends and seeing all that had changed with the company. Hard to believe it's almost been 5 years since I worked there! Jim and the boys had a great time together too. Jim spoiled them rotten, taking them out to eat, to the zoo and letting them play with Play Doh (something I only allow in the direst of circumstances). The night after my last day of work Calvin requested that Daddy put him to bed instead of Mommy! The experience was fun for both of us and also allowed us to appreciate what the other goes through everyday.

Our Little Star

This week Tyler was Star of the Week at Preschool. The Star gets to bring to school some of his favorite things to share with the class. For his books Tyler chose Cat in the Hat and Born to be an Aggie. For his toys he brought in his Mack truck filled with cars, Pup and Lion. He also got to ask a special person to come to class with him and he chose Daddy. Once at school the Star of the Week gets to sit on the special star at the front of the carpet, help with the calendar and have his choice of activities. Towards the end of the day Tyler got to sit on a chair in front of the class and his classmates gave him compliments which his teacher recorded on a big yellow star. What a great week of school! We are so proud of our little star!!

Park Play Date

Last week we met my good friend Sarah and her daughters Kate and Lauren at a park for a playdate and a picnic. The play structure was awesome and the boys had a blast swinging, sliding, digging and climbing all over it. After playing we took a beautiful walk down the trail to a beach. The kids loved the bridges we crossed and were impressed with all the lily pads they saw. Even though the temps have been warm (it got up to 89 that day!) the trees are still turning beautiful fall colors. When the kids were done playing in the sand we ate our lunch. Kate, Tyler and Cal played so well together (with Lauren observing) and Sarah and I got a chance to catch up with each other. Thanks for meeting us Sarah! We look forward to seeing you all again in a couple weeks!

New Routines

With school starting we're in the midst of getting into new routines. Last year my neighbor Meg and I started taking turns hosting each other for lunch on Thursdays. This year we've taken it a step further. On Thursdays we swap out taking the babies for the 2 1/2 hours the big boys are in preschool. Whoever is baby free will drop off and pick up Ty and William from school and in between is blissfully free to do whatever her heart desires :) Whoever has the little ones also hosts lunch for the day. We've done this twice so far and its been great! Meg found a storytime at the local library for Sam and Calvin to attend and they have loved their special time together. Here are some pictures from my time with them last Thursday. The letter of the day at storytime was H for hat and they decorated their own hats.

The Foo!

A couple weeks ago Jim and I went with some friends to the Foo Fighters concert in St. Paul. We had a limo ride to and from the concert, we had floor tickets and we were ready to rock! It was great to see them up close, they are so amazing!! They played for over 2 and a half hours and we danced and sang the entire time. It took us a day to hear normally again but it was worth it!
